Why does the front page say I don't have flash installed, because I know that I have version 9 installed. What is the problem? Thanks!

I'm having the same problem in IE 6 at home (oddly, the problem doesn't seem to occur for me at work and I'm using IE 6 here too).

It's happening on the homepage, and the index page for each system. The flash object appears very briefly, then is replaced by the "This content requires Javascript and Macromedia Flash Player 7 or higher. Get Flash" message.

The flash object is however working fine on the downloads, tech and features indexes.

Have seen this happen on other Web sites, notably when Flash 8 came out.

It has to do with the Flash detection code in the Web page not detecting that the version number is OK, and thereby returning an error - causing the site tot hinkthat Flash is not installed, when in reality it is.

On many of those sites, it only required removing/changing one line of code.

Same prob here. Running Vista and IE7 though. Definitely have flash installed, I get the quick pop of the normal interface before it goes away and tell me to download flash as well.

It all worked fine before the update to Vista though. So something with the new IE/Flash setup seems to be impacting it. I have no idea when I last installed/updated Flash though so what the person above said about version recognition could very well  be right.

For vista/IE7 users who cannot get flash to run try this:

Navigate to:

C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash

And run:

FlashUtil9b.exe

This fixed my issue with Gamespot and YouTube flash problems.
