Too many bugs yet still manages to be entertaining.
The bad side and bugs of Fifa 10:
The first thing that comes to mind is the blurring effect on replays, it only seems to happen on close up camera points but it gives me a headache fast !
As difficulty settings increase it dosnt make the computer controlled teams more skillful, it just means they get the ball from you just by being anywhere near you, your tackles will be much more ineffective, the CPU players can strangely out run any of your players and the referee gets more and more biased towards the CPU team the more you increase the difficulty. This way of making things more difficult just isnt natural and it spoils the game forcing you to play in ways that just arnt natural to a football match thus spoiling the atmosphere.
Other small bugs but very annoying none-the-less include.
Offside decisions given against your team a lot, and often in cheating ways.
Referee lets the CPU beat the snot out of your players with some filthy tackles and play but its very quick to give decisions against you for the slightest thing.
When a ball is knocked near a line your player will run to it and knock it past the line automatic and theres nothing you can do to stop him, this means you will give away some very strange corners and throw ins sometimes even an own goal.
When passing to players they will stand there looking gormless while a CPU player strolls over and intercepts very cheaply.
Your defence hardly ever tackle, especialy if theres a lot of people in your box, they all kinda just stand around and get in the way.
The CPU controlled team has the magic ability to get at least 8 players back into their box to defend any attack you make no matter how skillfull and planned it may have been, also when they are defending in their box all they have to do is look at you and they can take the ball from you which means the little skills performed by holding left trigger are just useless.
When passing in a certain direction the CPU will decide to pass in a different direction other than the one you pointed it in.
Your players will often stumble over passes or seem to pause a second for no good reason where as the CPU team will keep running from pass to pass in fluid motion making nice flowing runs.
long goal kicks or long passes always land infront of a CPU player.
If the CPU decides it wants a goal it will just go and get one by making your defence even more dumb than normal and maker their strikers untackleable. This might sound like an excuse but when a CPU striker runs from the half way line into my box with 6 of my players all around him and nobody including myself can pull off what would normaly be a very easy tackle you know something just isnt making sense.
Besides the bugs, of which there are many theres another annoying thing.
The commentary seems very limited. Personaly i play as MCFC and i hear the same damn lines in every single game and im not just talking about general play but almost everytime Tevez gets the ball the commentator says "and its Tevez with his bulldog like approach", i find myself shouting at the TV saying "i bloody know ! stop telling me that over and over"
Soooo, now you know this game has more bugs than a creepy crawly shop but dont let that stop you buying the game.
Fifa 10 is actually quite fun and its not like theres lots of serious choice in the football sim world of games.
Its just not the perfect football sim that we have been looking for all these years, it still dosnt capture a good sense of reality, hell you cant even set it for a full on real time 90 min match but still its entertaining and its fantastic being able to play as your favourite team.
The visuals arnt too bad, theres no decent crowd detailing or animations but when your playing with the cam up high its kinda like watching the match on TV.
I just wish they would fix the stupid bugs and maybe even add some of the famous crowd songs that they sing when their team is winning or to try and inspire them to keep trying such as "blue moon" for MCFC or "youl never walk alone" for LFC or "mr blobby" for MUFC hehe just kidding.
My conclusion is that if you want a football game then get Fifa 10, its better than PES despite its lame bugs.
