The Best FIFA Yet, But Still No Winning Eleven.
I initially wrote a better review for this game, but after playing about 40 or so games online, I encountered aspects of the game that seriously bring down the rating significantly in my opinion. Online is where the real flaws of the game stand out. For example, shooting. Shooting is much better than last year, but it's still garbage. In previous FIFAs you could score from 30-40 meters out like it wasn't a thing. This years you can't, but a lot of douchebags online just hammer out shots from far out and get cheap rebounds or corners because the keepers deflect shots they should catch. I've lost several game to people who just used flaws in the gameplay to win, which cheapens the experience in my opinion because I like to use strategy and skill. In real life, you can't just shoot from that far away with the consistent speed and accuracy that you can in FIFA. I know it's only a game, but in this day and age, you should have a quasi-realistic shooting system in a soccer simulation. Another problem is the crosses/corner kicks. They are undefendable. You'll get the fanboy that says I'm wrong, but I'm not. I've marked a striker with 3 people and used the thumbstick to jostle him in the box and still conceded a header goal. Not just once, too many times to recall. I've also scored most of my goal from crosses. There's nothing to it, just cross and hit the shoot button. Ninety percent of the time somebody is there and they usually don't miss. That really cheapens it for me as well. Finally the AI is something that drives me insane and it doesn't stand out until you play online against somebody who is pretty good. Defenders are morons. they lack common soccer sense in many occassions and will screw up violently on many occassions and leave you to clean up their mess.
Anyhow, this game is good and online can be a blast until you play somebody who uses the game's flaws to win. If you haven't played Winning Eleven and have liked previous FIFAs, you'll probably love this game. But if you're like me and have played several WEs, you'll be able to call this game on its flaws and chances are you won't keep it for that long. I'm selling mine ASAP.
