American Laser games came with up with a lot of lame live action shooting games for the arcades and home except Mad dog macree in the arcades which was well received at it's time and funny to watch at some points like watching a guy roll of a saloon window. They were a few other games of it's kind released at the arcades and home such as Mad Dog II Space Pirates and Crime Patrol. The only of it's series that remained in the arcades was Fast Draw Showdown which finally makes it's way to the Wiiware.

You can play the game alone or with another player in 2 -player showdown where both players square off against 2 other cowboys. The player's goal in the game is to play though six different showdown though 8 rounds. You fight the showdowns by waiting the draw signal and then draw and shoot the cowboy down before he shoot you within the split second time limit There are different times that you have to beat the cowboy in. The main problem is that you have to win every single showdown in order to advance to the next round. That's right one mess up and you'll fail the round, what makes little sense is that is that even after failing a showdown you continue to fight the other showdowns but even if you win them you'll still have to restart the round because you lost 1 showdown.

The controls are basic to learn you have to lay the remote faced down and wait for the draw signal to appear, when the draw signal goes you quickly point the the remote at the screen and use the B trigger to shoot. If you point the remote at the screen before the signal you will get a foul, if you foul again you'll lose automatically. The game-play works for the first few rounds but when you get to round 4 the difficulty simply gets unfair quickly because you have to draw really quickly and you can lose really easily since you have to draw in like 0.78 for example and it can get really frustrating.. The game can get really boring after a while as it's far to simple and formulaic the showdown is simply no fun.

The producing values is the same as the other games as the quality isn't bad as with previous releases. The acting is dumb as ever you can see them performing weird drops and faints when you shoot the cowboys but sometimes they act weird for example drunk people act drunk, miss on purpose and even forget to prepare themselves, it's like all the other live action games.

Fastdraw showdown is just another live action shooting game that simply gets boring really fast. At a price 500 Nintendo points (£4.99) it's probability not worth it to download this showdown for your Wii as It's okay to laugh at the awful acting but the fun is ruined thanks to it's punishing difficulty and formulaic game-play.
