Solid but short new campaign.

User Rating: 8.7 | Far Cry Instincts Evolution XBOX
Far Cry Instincts Evolution is a sort of an expansion pack to Far Cry Instincts with a new campaign worth around 8 hours of gameplay.

Far Cry Instincts Evolution takes place some time after the original Far Cry Instincts. Jack Carver is still in need for money because his boat went sky high in the beginning of the original game. Beautiful woman hires him as her bodyguard in some illegal gun trade. Of course everything goes wrong and once again Carver finds himself in the middle of a dense jungle escaping these rebels who made the ambush attack. Later Carver finds that now there is a whole tribe of these feral power boosted humans who are waging guerrilla war in that area.

Graphics are just as good as in FCI and the appearance has been pumped up a little. Same goes to the sound which are still the same great Far Cry quality.

Gameplay is little different than in the original, because Carver now has all his feral abilities right from the get go. So if you haven’t played the original game you will have somewhat steep learning curve to get over with. Also especially in the first portion of Far Cry Instincts Evolution the environments are more open ended and include more stealth elements than the original.

There are two issues that drag the experience down a bit. First is respawn: now the enemies sometimes spawn right next to you from thin air and continue to do so ad infinitum until you realize to move forward. Second thing are jump puzzles, which is a nice new idea to Far Cry franchise, but these are made in a way that they are much more frustrating than fun.

Far Cry Instincts Evolution is a good game, but not as good as the original was. If Far Cry Instincts left you wanting more then you’ll find it in Far Cry Instincts Evolution.
