Excellent Game! Well Worth the Money!
I really love Far Cry 3! Although the player reviews have been good, I was leery about buying this game. I loved the original Far Cry, but hated FC2. FC2 just seemed completely pointless. I also read the reviews that hunting was involved in FC3, and I was turned off by hunting in Assassin's Creed 3. HOWEVER, FC3 really puts so many good elements into the game it's unbelievable! There may be a few games I like better for specific reasons, but this truly open world adventure is right up there with my favorite gaming experiences!
This game contains many types of games within itself. There's first person shooting. There's action gaming, including some Tomb Raider/Assassin's Creed elements. There's stealth, but you can also try running & gunning. There's hunting, and even skinning sharks! There are side-missions, car/boat races, hang-gliding, and more! The game also has excellent graphics. This is one of the few games that I've actually wanted to try to find & complete everything. And yes, the length is great- about 20 hours when trying to do absolutely everything.
Cons
Yes, there are a few down sides. Yes, Ubisoft sucks as we all know by now in terms of their ultra-security craziness. The mandatory cutscenes are a bit much at times. It would be great if you could skip them if you replay the game. There are also a few console elements with boss-type fights that show which buttons to push (but not many). Once you get into the game, there are quick travel locations, but there's also plenty of mandatory driving/running that can get old at times. Some people may find the pirate battles to get redundant, but I loved them as I tried to approach each one with different tactics.
Overall- YES- BUY THIS GAME!!!
I've been gaming for 30+ years, and it's rare that I find a game that truly hits the mark in so many areas. I've already played it twice in a few months, so it definitely has replay-ability.
