Hillbillies, swamp monsters, and an eerie setting make Point Lookout the most atmospheric of the Fallout 3 DLC's.

So you thought that Broken Steel was going to be the final Fallout 3 expansion? Well you were wrong and it is a good thing too, becuase to be honest who doesn't want more Fallout 3. Point Lookout continues the idea of bringing the gamer to post apocolyptic East Coast locations since this takes place in Maryland. Point Lookout is an eerie place. With a Silent Hill esque fog that is everywhere, hillbillies, and swamp things Point Lookout is definately more survival horror than any of the previous Fallout 3 DLC's.

The main plot of Point Lookout is about a group of "hippie travelers" are battling it out with a goul who lives in a mansion on Point Lookout's coast. You will do things for both sides, and in typical Fallout 3 fashion you will be double crossed and you will ultimately decide who comes out victorious and who doesn't. This DLC is definately for the people who have already played Broken Steel and gotten over level 20. I first tried playing this before I got over level 20 and I had a very difficult time, but after I beat Broken Steel and got some of the sweet guns from that, this became much easier and enjoyable.

Point Lookout actually has more than three quests like all the other DLC's do, but one of them is rather short and you don't get an achievement for it. There are 100 new points (4 achievements) for this DLC. Three of the achievements come from beating the quests, and the fourth one comes from finding every location in Point Lookout. This is a very fun one, since there are so many creepy things to see in Point Lookout, but if you have the level 20 perk that shows all locations on the map it takes away from some of the exploration fun (although I still enjoyed checking everything out).

At the end of the day Point Lookout is another strong DLC for Fallout 3, that fans definately need to check out. The atmosphere for this DLC is a lot more horror than previously, and even though the main quest line is rather short, its a lot more interesting than The Pitt or Operation Anchorage. Definately give this one a download.
