Solid Standalone shooter but not a good F.E.A.R. game

I have played all games in the F.E.A.R. series and except Perseus Mandate liked all of them irrespective of the general opinion.

I will give a very brief outline of what I think about the game.

As an FPS, it is solid. The guns feel good, the combat is challenging in higher difficulty levels and the AI compliments all of these.

Although many complain that the graphics look dated I am quite satisfied with it. What I am not satisfied is unpolished job they did.
The environment although nicely designed feels washed out in most places. I was expecting a gritty and dark ambiance with high tension in air but that was completely absent. This mostly has to do with art direction and they did a sad job.

One of the worst part of the package is the ambient music. There is almost no logic in when they play it. It feels random. Sometimes the music tries to build up tension when there is nothing to look forward to and rest of the time energetic music keeps playing even after intense encouters are over and you are just roaming around.

The Singleplayer was ruined due to the work of amateurs. Half the time I wasn't looking where I was supposed to when Alma pops up some random ghost pops in an out. I will not talk about the story but in general it was a disappointing end(?) for a cherished series.

At the end of the day F.E.A.R. still remains the best among all the games in the series and it is quite a sad thing that a studio is willing to ruin a game that quite frankly had a ton of potential to even rival many AAA titles in its genre.
