Hit or miss...

I'm a huge fan of Super Stardust HD and given that Gamespot scored this game higher, I thought i'd give it a try too.
I don't know what to think of it.
It is very different. There are many things that are great about it, but its major flaw is that it doesn't offer enough to keep you attached for longer than 20minutes at a time.
Whereas on Stardust I have spent up to 2hrs in one sitting playing it, with this, after the 20minute mark I am always fed up.
The idea of the game is pretty simple. You shoot things and you have to survive. There are certain things you shoot that explode, causing a ring of explosion. If anything else touches this ring, that too explodes, causing its own ring and so on. This is called a chain-reaction, and it is a nice feature of the game.
Each destroyed enemy gives off an acoustic guitar (or piano) sound which adds to the background music. This is a nice feature too but eventually you'll get bored of the simple music in this game.
A huge flaw in the game is that in 'normal' mode, you will ALWAYS start from the beginning.
Spent half an hour reaching level 6? Died? Well be prepared to start all over again from level one.

Anyway I've played this game for about 2 days and realised that its high review score is just to some people's taste, and not to mine. You may love it, who knows?
Given that Stardust HD received a lower score than this, I would say that if you really like Stardust HD, you may not like this.
