Enslaved is an emotionally satisfying game that combines a great, lengthy story and hardcore gameplay.

I just beat this game and I was left touched. The story, the dynamic between the two main characters left me in awe. I felt immediately attached to both Monkey and Trip when they first introduced. Two completely different people forced to work together to survive in their newly destruct world. While it can feel like a cliche love/hate relationship, the realistic humane weaknesses shine through in the dialogue and facial expressions. There only being three main characters(one is introduced 60% of the way through story) shows how empty and sparse the world is and gives a feeling of loneliness that affected me greatly.

The game itself is a blast to play, and pretty menacing at times. This is a tactical action adventure game. It is NOT meant to be a God of War in any way, shape or form. There are no quick real time events which made me happy and there's also pretty much no gore to speak of. You'll be fighting mainly mechs throughout the campaign but there are many different kinds of them to fight and you have to plan out how you are to go about fighting them before each wave encounter. The difficulty can be frustrating at times if you start out your first campaign at hard. There are tech orbs that you find throughout each chapter and I definitely encourage going out of your way to get these, as they are used to upgrade Monkey's abilities.

The presentation is top notch. For the Unreal engine, I'm impressed by the view distance of the background in this game. The world is believable and the huge destruction and world rebuilt from recycled scrap metal pops out of the screen and catches your eye. It has a true apocalyptic feel that I feel no other game has aced quite like Ninja Theory did with this game. The sound is wonderful all around, from the crushing of the metal mechs to the A quality voice acting and music.

The game is not without its frustrations. The game can get very hard for those who aren't prepared mentally. The graphics, although great from a distance, some textures can get ugly up close and that is just a fault of the Unreal engine. Framerate for me dropped during the last few chapters as well. There are plotholes up the wazoo as well that left my wondering. This might have been intended, but I think an archive of descriptions on certain enemies and unknown signs or areas could have done the game well.

I'm not much for conclusions, but what I finally wanted to say was that you should go buy this game now. You can find this game
