A great franchise that gets even better!
A game like this is not going to be deep or expansive in scope. The Boss battles are fun the AI is much smarter and attacks twice as often, and on top of that the fact that they added in Mobile Armor is a great new change up to the old gameplay. IE it's not all button smashing. Mobile Armors can only be damaged when they show a weekness, and the gmae also notes that the player can also force the boss into this mode of weekness.
I guss for GameSpot the fact that it has no blood, or guns that kill in one shot, or even over the top gore via oil, and other things means it sucks for them.
I however respectfully disagree! This game gets better and more challanging the deeper you go into the game. Thats a good thing! Sure the side missions are lame, but the story mode fallows the core anime to the letter, right down to the same words the origninal VOs used in the first translation of the TV show.
If you love the 70s/80s/60s Gundam this is for you! In the mission modes they added in many other Gundams, and pilots from the more recent line of TV/Movies. IE ZZ Gundam, Gundam: Chars Counter Attack, Seed, Gundam Wing, etc...........
What I like is that although many of the attacks are close combat with swords or other odd weapons, there is still a strong range attack for most of the pilots. IE They come in the form of Mosu. Wing Zero for one thing can unleash the duble Buster Cannon attack and kill off 50 enemies at once!, On the other side of things Nu Gundam, and Chars Counter attack MS can both unleash powerfull Fin Funnel attacks that can take out or knock back many enemies at once. There are even different attacks for mid air, and on the ground attacks and these can even be done in space. Gundam MK2, and Gundam can both use the duble Rocket attack from the anime, and both can use other forms of movies as well.
