A generic MMO with the Dragon Ball flavor fans will love.

Being a huge fan of MMOs (both Free and Pay to play) and a HUUGE Dragon Ball fan since I was a kid made this game sound like a match made in heaven! Though the game is a generic Free To Play grind it has enough Dragon Ball to make hardcore fans want to stick with it, though I dont see it drawing in a bigger MMO crowd.

When you first play Dragon Ball Online it will probably look familiar to any seasoned MMO veterans, and thats probably because it uses the exact same formula. Questing is generic, go kill x amount of y and return to contact, rinse and repeat. Combat is the same system we have seen over and over again, with a few twists like the ability to raise your power level by powering up and using that high power (RP points) to add special effects to your attacks such as knockback, guard breaks etc.

This game can be incredibly fun, getting the transformations for the 3 classes (Super Saiyan, Great Namek, Pure Buu) is a challenge as you have to collect all 7 dragon balls to wish for a transformation, the only problem is there are only limited times to hunt dragon balls and during those times there are A LOT of people on, so finding good mobs is hard to do.

Dragon Balls are really what sets this game apart from other games, collecting them can be very challenging, it can also be dull but it will reward you for your hard work. Maybe getting amazing gear or wishing for a good buff or a super attack, these things can all be done by wishing on the dragon, the only problem is to get a Legendary Weapon, Super Saiyan and a buff means you need to collect the Dragon Balls 3 different times, and for those of you without alot of time to dedicate you will fall behind.

PvP is a fun part of the game, another area this game shines is the tournaments which take place twice a week. Tournaments can start with 500-600 people (havent seen max number) and they have an all out royal rumble split into fights of 20-50 people. The top people move onto the next round where you fight 1v1 and work your way up the tournament ranks until there is only 1 winner. Unfortunantly guys though PvP is one of the best parts of this game it is also very broken. It relies heavily on stuns, the first person to cast a stun pretty much wins, some classes have multiple stuns that can last 10 seconds, by the time you can do anything the fight is over and until this is fixed the PvP will not be good in this game.

There are more things i could go on and on to talk about guys, time travel missions let you go back and experience Dragon Ball moments but as if you were in them, but I have 2 level 40+s at the moment and havent done any Time Travel mission where I have actually had to fight. If they work out the stun system to make fights not rely on them so much, if they make the game less of a grind and add in MUCH more time travel quests early on and add in fly (which for some odd reason was left out yet Super Saiyans are put in??) it will be a great game, as for right now I suggest only hardcore Dragon Ball fans look into playing this game, though I am still playing it and having fun with it I can see why people wont like it.
