Unfortunately, time has worn a bit deeper into this game than it has with other games.

User Rating: 8.5 | Super Donkey Kong SNES
Donkey Kong Country is the first of a trilogy of Donkey Kong games that were released late in the Super NES's shelf life. They involve Donkey Kong and his friends going on adventures to stop the Kremlings and their leader, King K. Rool. The graphics are really good for a SNES game, and show just what kind of power the console was capable of dishing out during the 16-bit era. The sounds effects are also well done, and the much of the music (especially for the first level) is rather memorable. Unfortunately, the same can't be said for the game content. There are six worlds, each with about six levels, and a boss at the end. After completing the worlds, you'll go strait to K. Rool. The levels aren't that long, and it is possible to complete all the levels and get to the end of the game in less than 3 hours. That's not to say the game is easy, though. While short, many of the levels will have you losing lives going through trial and error, especially with levels where you must time yourself shooting out of barrels. Also, it's impossible to leave a world without the aid of Funky Kong, so trying to complete 3 or 4 worlds with only 5 lives and no save may frusterate some, but there still are secret worlds available. These mini-games are hidden in walls, and can be opened by throwing barrels in them. Completing them will earn you more lives. Luckily, there is also a small amount of replayability in finding these levels, but they aren't as rewarding as the full fledged secret levels found in Super Mario World. If you've already completed Super Mario World, and need another platformer to download, try out Donkey Kong Country.
