Few issues but it's still a great cinema-like experience.

User Rating: 8.5 | Disaster: Day of Crisis WII
Okay troubled by the GameSpot's 5.5 review I have to give my own opinion about Disaster: Day of Crisis.

You play as Raymond Bryce fighting bad guys called SURGE who kidnapped your dead friend's sister. Besides the bad guys you'll encounter overwhelming amount of natural disasters. Volcano eruption, earthquake, hurricane, flood, tsunami.. The phrase "hell of day" isn't repeated in the game for nothing. On top of that you can choose to rescue citizens in need for help.

The game contains few gameplay modes that keep changing on the fly. At one second you're doing your normal adventure routine exploring the surroundings and all of a sudden bad guys show up and the gameplay changes to on-rail shooting, or flood breaks out and you're running for your life shaking the nunchuk and the remote. There's also pretty well executed driving stages, and minigame-like rescues.

There's really not much wrong with the game if you're into action games/movies. Playing through the game it felt like a 8½ hour long interactive movie. There's good amount of cutscenes and the game rolls onward with a good pace and since it's pretty easy you won't get stuck a lot. Without the natural disasters, the plot, mostly the SURGE part, reminded me a lot of the movie "The Rock".

Couple of issues with the camera though, it's way too slow to move manually and automatic camera doesn't seem to follow Ray as good as it should or could in the exploring parts. It works out fine on shooting parts and other. Also some of the minigame controls such as when you're supposed to flick the remote left or right quickly, or both nunchuk and remote up, are sometimes annoyingly unresponsive and on couple of parts mistakes like these cause you to die. The checkpoints are placed well though so even if you die you won't have to start over very long behind but it's still annoying.

Graphics and especially sounds aren't top-notch but it can be forgiven.

Overall the game is way better than the 5.5 score and I can recommend it to anyone who enjoys good action, either in games or movies.
