The game has some great ideas. But it doesn't really offer the amount you would want to have.

User Rating: 4.9 | Digimon Rumble Arena PS
Digimon Rumble Arena is a fighting game that has some similar ideas likes Super Smash Bros but although the games are essentially the same their backgrounds and structures are completely different and that is what makes this game inferior to Super Smash Bros. Game design: Unlike Digimon world the Digimon’s graphics here look a lot better. The main casts from Digimon, Digimon 02 and Digimon Tamers are in the game and are selectable with other unlockable characters from Agomon to Blackwargreymon. There are decent looking environments with interactions and you can collect items during battle. The presentation of the game however is pretty slacking, apart from the intro sequence you won’t really see any other animated scenes or acts, there is just the fighting. Game Play: Rumble arena is a fighting game, you can choose Digimons and fight other Digimons and win battles. There are starter roosters of around 8 Digimons and others that can be unlocked. Each Digimon has its own attacks. Digimons can double jump, dash, perform normal melee attacks and special attacks. Each Digimon can evolve into their most powerful forms known from the TV series and the films but only while their energy gauge lasts. There aren’t really a lot of modes to choose from so you will be playing the same mode over and over again with different Digimons. Sound: The music in the game is pretty good and suits the games tone. There are also some voice castings from Digimons and their Partners but you will only hear their attacks or “(X)mon digivolve!”. Although this game has some elements that made Super Smash Bros a success it cannot successfully use them. For example the Digimon movements are really slow and there aren’t a lot of combos, the moves are always the same and can get quite boring really quickly. What bothers me the most is the rooster, there should have been a lot more Digimons to choose from in all of those seasons. There are so many other Digimons and Digivolve forms that have been missed out. Although the rooster for Super Smash Bros was short its game play mechanics and presentation made the game almost irresistible, while for this game the game play mechanics are slow and sluggish and it almost has no presentation. The game may be fun for a while but it won’t really last long until it gets too repetitive. I would only recommend a rental for this game.
