Dig Dug was a classic platformer from the 1980s, and, still to this day, it holds up surprisingly well.

User Rating: 8 | Dig Dug ARC
The Good:
-A classic arcade game that was a stunner back in the 1980s
-Graphics of it are better then some game to come out on the GEN
-Gameplay is simple but very well set up

The Bad:
-You can get through the first 8 or 9 levels without taking a hit
-Some better choices today

First things first, Dig Dug was a great game BACK THEN. It is still a great game now, don't get me wrong, but all the choices you have nowadays are much more tempting then 10 levels of Dig Dug, even though it is a great game.

Dig Dug was released years before I was born. The first time I played it I loved it, the gameplay sucks you in.

You are this totally awesome little dude that can shoot this laser thing that makes bad guys tun into baloons and burst. You start off in the centre of a archaelogical dig like site and you can go around and dig the surrounding soil. There are some little places where there are bad guys roaming around, so these places are definitely avoidable. The main aim of the game is to kill all the bad guys, or let them escape. You get a higher score if you kil them, though.

If you figure out a good technique to play through the game, you can probably get through the first 8 or 9 levels without taking a single hit, but, after that, the gameplay can get very difficult, keeping a nice, fun, feeling through many levels, even though the most you'll get out of Dig Dug will happen within 30 minuites.

With all things considered, Dig Dug is a worthwile game that works great as a small little game to go and play for 30 minuites to an hour when you get bored.

Overall, 8/10
