One of the best and funniest PSone games you can get.
I have never liked racing or rally games specially much, but I love "car crashing games" -and Destruction Derby was the absolute first "car crashing game" who started this wonderful genre! This is the father to every game clone like those... Driver, Stuntman and Full Auto etc.
I remember how funny it was to try to win the different hard races at the same time to try my best to survive and destroy and smash all the other cars so much I could. It was a very hard game, who I can't remember I finsihed, but it doesn't matter... I played it a lot and had a lot of fun with it, and that's what really matter! (I also played a lot of other great games at the same period when I played DD, so maybe that was one of the point I never finished the game.)
After the excellent game Destruction Derby, the follow-up came: Destruction Derby 2, from the same devoloper - "Psygnosis". After that, sadly the Destruction Derby series died, and also a part of whole this "car crashing" genre died. I think it was because Sony bought up Psygnosis, and that team is now called "Reflections" and the other "Destruction Derby games" how have come out after DD1 and DD2 wasen't made by the original devolopers, it was made of a little team from Sony. So all follow-up DD games after the second one is garbage.
Now, today, the orignal team Reflections not seems to be so intrested to come back to Sony. So a new "original" Destruction Derby will we probably never see again... But the first two DD games, specially the first one, I strongly recommended!
