Remember how awesome Joint Operations was? Well this isn't that game.

Novalogic is a company that I think a lot of PC gamers are familiar with. They made the Commanche series, the F-22 games, all the Delta Force games, and the game that was the most promising Battlefield killer, Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising.

Their latest entry into the Delta Force series, simply named Delta Force: Xtreme is garbage. You would think after making this amazing game way back in 2004 they could simply improve the visuals, balance the game, improve the netcode and release a sequel. But they didn't. Somewhere along the way an executive over at their offices must have decide that budget games are where its at because that's what their latest titles have been.

Delta Force: Xtreme 2 shouldn't be called a sequel. It doesn't bring a single new thing to the table. Like it's predecessor it's actually a downgrade from Joint Ops. It's the same game but with less players, worse visuals, and a singleplayer campaign with AI so brain dead it's just boring to play. The campaign is just Black Hawk down with bland terrain set pieces, no cinematic action, and objectives that consist of moving across said bland terrain just shooting enemies until you reach a waypoint. There's no story, surprisingly little action, it's just rather dull.

Going online isn't much better, there's a few servers with people playing but no large player counts, battles consist of a bullet swarm around a small area, and it just lacks the scale and epic feeling of Joint Ops. The entire experience feels rushed, bland, and just a rehash of bland gameplay from ages past to make a few bucks. It might have been a quality product in 2000 Novalogic but it doesn't pass today.
