On its own, this game is one of the best on Wii!

User Rating: 9 | Dead Rising: Zombie no Ikenie WII
I recently purchased Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop for the Nintendo Wii. I had never played Dead Rising on Xbox360, and to be honest, I probably will not. If you are reading this in hope of a comparison to the 360 game, just leave now. Moving on to the review, I am quite pleased with this game. The graphics are some of the best on the Wii. There are a few little problems, that I will gladly discuss. These problems have to deal with the fuzziness of the cut scenes and of some textures in the game. Other than that, the game really does look quite impressive. Character modeling is well done, the guns and weapons look great, and the environments (for the most part) are incredible to see on a Wii. The controls are quite easy to learn and master. I no more picked up the game, looked over a brief explanation of the controls, and proceeded to do some much needed zombie massacring. The combat motion controls do not need to be utilized to play through the game, but do allow for special attacks that are really cool. The sounds that fill this game are very nice, too. Whether it is the groaning of the undead, guns being fired, or the voice acting, they are all done in a top notch way. The game plays nicely, giving you a clear look at how to progress through the game. In between the missions where you are timed (counting upwards for a total time that will be factored in your overall rank for the mission), there are missions with no timer. These are opportune times to explore and level up. It kind of provides for a minor free-roam mode in between objectives. I like this feature so much that I have spent countless hours just butchering zombies, poodles, and parrots for the sake of entertainment and leveling up. The level up system is a great addition for a survival horror game. Slowly, as you level up, you will boost your sub weapon attack and durability, increase your item stock, and be granted to access new books that allow to have new skills (like new moves or increased weapon attack moves). There are also a lot of Resident Evil references in this game that will make any old-school gamer (and even some newer ones) smile. All in all, I have found one of the best Wii games in my opinion and will be playing it for quite sometime. After all this play time, I am left with two questions though. First, will Capcom release a sequel that has been refined more and of a more unique origin (instead of a semi-port)? Also, after playing this game I am left to wonder why there has not been a Grand Theft Auto on Wii yet. My recommendation to you, if you own a Wii and are looking for a more mature game, do your self a favor and pick this up. You will not be disappointed!
