It could have been great.............. But............

I never played dead rising. so I jumped into this game with my only expectations being built from the adverts and reviews.

To be honest, it looked like fun, which it is. It looked hectic, for sure it is. It looked well built and structured........... well, no.

The timed overall game was an interesting concept to me. But to be honest i thought it fell a little flat. At one point i failed the entire game because i had time between missions to clear a side quest or two. then, once the next mission kicked in, unless i was standing RIGHT NEXT to the start point, there was no way i was going to make it. I was half way across the map trying to fight with the games talking system which i think is a little timid.

For me, that was a deal-breaker. An open world game is great if it's done right. and i understand the time limits are put in place to make everything about the game's "outbreak" feel urgent and pressured but for me, it done nothing but frustrate me while i was trying to play.
the game sells itself on weapon experimentation, exploration, and bizarrely, trying on as many different sets of clothes as possible. But it simply doesn't give you the time to do it. Replay value for me is not the same as being FORCED to play the game 3 times to experience everything.

Overall, the game looks great (screen popping and tearing, unless hideously obvious, doesn't bother me in an open world game) the story is so-so, but it is great fun. If you can suffer the loading times you get at every turn.

I would say the game is worth a rental, for nothing more than ****s and giggles. But after the 20th change into a strange set of clothes, and the 10th time of taping one funny weapon to another, the novelty wears of a little and your back to a crazy time limit and hideous loading screens!
