The newer updated version of Day of Defeat, It's lost its charm though.

I used to have a major DoD 1,3 addiction. It's one of the best games I've ever played, I was especially hooked on the Avalanche map, one of my favourite maps ever. In the new version they changed some details in the map. The 2 sniper-windows on axis side do not look out on the 2nd allie flag (+the window near it) anymore, making camping impossible, because of a telephone-post if I remember correctly. The hole in the wall where axis used to be camping isn't that great anymore aswell, it's less coverend and half of the spots you were able to look out on are not visible anymore from there. That and other details ruined the map if yuo ask me, and the game, since that was the only map I ever played.
Fun game, glad I bought it, but that's only because I now have the HL2 engine and I can download a whole lot of Mods.
Also it just doesn't feel as great and oldschool (duh) as the old version. That one was great in its simplicity just like the other shooters from the beginning of this century. So if you ask me, it has nothing good 1,3 had, it doesn't have the great feel, it doesn't have the sick accuracy the game used to have, and it doesnt have a decent avalanche map. Also many classes don't have a sidearm. I don't like having a slow rifle and nothing for close quarter combat. I need a pistol. And the shorter faster M1 (with foldable stock) is only available if you take the Rocketlauncher. My advice, don't buy it unless it's for sale or when you are looking for something that doesn't look like the old DoD.
