First PSP fighter looks and feels good.

This was the first game i got for my PSP. I bought them both in one pack from Japan. I was abit nervous since i knew darkstalkers didnt seem as good as RR or any of the other release titles, neither have i played many 2D-fighters in my past. But when i started playing I saw what was great about them. Although this is not THE best game to show of your PSP with.. it does have quite some entertaining value and alot of gameplay. There are mainly two modes to chose from: Arcade and Chaos Tower. Arcade is like a basic arcade version where you battle enemies 'til you meet the boss and beat him. In Chaos Tower it's almost the same except for some important differences, you chose three fighter who will fight their way through different stages (or levels) in a tower. Some matches have certain conditions, like not being able to punch or kick. When one of your three fighters gets knocked out, you can only use the two remaining. So it has a survival twist aswell. When you beat characters in chaos tower you unlock certain special images of characters. Capcom are known for having original characters, and this game is no different. There are many characters to chose from, there are little red riding hood "clones", frankenstein "clones", there's a wherewolf... there's a great selection of characters to chose from indeed. This greatly increases the gameplay. Each character has their own moves and special moves. The controls can be abit tough but luckily you can chose an easy control setting that lets you use otherwise hard moves with the push of one button. When you beat arcade mode you get to see a cutscene, these can be seen later on whenever you want. There is also a gallery with all the games music, with the PSP's lock feature you can lock the buttons and listen to the songs like mp3's on the go. The graphics are smooth and the special attacks look sweet on the PSP screen, particularly beautiful on full backlight. A fighting game also looks good because of the widescreen. One thing i have been worried about it how hard and fast you tend to push the buttons when you fight. And since we're all new PSP owners we would like to be gentle with the PSP wouldnt we? Also the games can only last so long. I have had it for about a month and dont find myself playing it anymore. If you're gonna get Darkstalkers, i suggest you get another game with it. All in all this is a great game for you fighter fans, and delivers a good gaming experience.
