This game isn't as bad as they say. I've played far worse (cough) Damnation (cough). There is fun to be had here.
STORY: The Void is a parallel universe in the Bramuta Triangle (i think i butchered the spelling on that). Aliens called Watchers rule here and are trying to get back to earth through a portal. So you strap on a jetpack and try to save the day. Sound familiar? Like the script of a old 80's scifi movie? Yup you got it. The story telling feels just like that and it fits the atmosphere well. Also that does mean there are lots of one liners. Story told very well though.
GAMEPLAY: This game is a Third Person Shooter and a Third Person Shooter Flyer. There is alot of ground combat and more aerial dogfights with your jetpack. The gameplay is solid. Nothing new and innovative, not bad either. There is vertical combat where certain sections make you shoot up or down a cliff edge but it doesnt feel new enough. You can upgrade weapons, and find collectables. Only other thing to do outside combat. This game does have frame rate issues. I threw a grenade and it slowed down for a good 6 seconds. Really bad like. Only encountered it once though. No multiplayer so no reason to go back except for Survival Mode. Essencially a Mercinaries Mode for Dark Void. This adds a little bit of replay value.
PRESENTATION: Doesn't look bad. Don't look great either. I'm impressed however by the lengthy soundtrack. Soundtrack excellently done.
If your looking for a cheap thrill game this be it. Also this game hands out achievements like candy.
