"The original game... locked away for decades... is now back from the void."

User Rating: 8.5 | Dark Void Zero DS
Dark Void Zero is a great game. It has a very straight-forward yet fun and addictive gameplay system. You use two buttons (A and B) to jump, fly, hover, and shoot, and you use the directional pads to control your movement. The story, too, is simple. You play as the first human born in the void, nick-named Rusty, who tries to stop the alien race known as the Watchers from invading Earth. You progress through each level by finding key cards to go to the next part of the level and eventually fight a boss. This may seem very basic, but you'll soon find out how challenging the levels are. With different enemies standing in your way (who respawn after a short amount of time) and a great layout of the levels, you'll find yourself dying quite a few times before you get to the final boss. There are also tech points, different weapons, journal entries, and other small objectives to discover if you choose to explore the levels. The graphics of the game are how an 8-bit game should look. There are a lot of good colors and animations that are shown here. The music of the game is also pretty good, sounding exactly how you would want an NES style game to sound, with a sort of retro tune.

The Good:
-Great sound
-Nice graphics
-Challenging levels
-Good replay value

The Bad:
-Too short

Dark Void Zero took me less than one hour to complete, but although the game may be a little short, its different difficulty settings and objectives to discover will have you coming back for more. And at only 500 DSi points ($5) this game is a steal.
