Shooting alien bugs is fun in this Japanese arcade style shoot em up.Released back in 1989 for arcade.

Dangerous Seed is a vertial scrolling shoot em up that was released in 1989 for arcade and in 1990 for the SEGA MEGA DRIVE only in Japan.

Even though it's another vertial scrolling shoot em up,it does things a bit different to many others and keep in mind it was released in 1989 before the arcade style shoot em up genre starting to feel cliche.

One of the things it does differently is it allows your ship to sustain multiple hits from enemy attacks/collisions.

You can collect an upgrade that increases the speed of your ship dramatically and allows it to fly out of the way of enemy weaponfire much more easily.

Instead of being able to choose multiple pilots/ships,it makes you use 3 different pilots whom have a unique ship with it's own pattern of weaponfire and if you make it to stage 5th,the ships combine together to create a super powerful ship.

You can use shields but the shields are weird because they move around and can cause massive damage to enemies and you can try to stay behind them and follow them as they move.

Otherwise it's a typical shoot em up,and a fun way with a nice, retro Sci Fi visual style to it.The levels are quite atmospheric and give you the feel you're in a place where there's going to be giant alien bugs and you'll see things such as giant spider webs or environments that feel like you're in some hive that's blended with futuristic alien technology. The enemies are influenced by bugs/insects because you'll encounter enemy ships which look like spiders,as well as giant spider bosses and giant scorpions whom will attack you with their tail or giant flying insect-like things that shoot giant, sharp looking projectiles at you etc.I love how one of the stages has an area that looks like it's some kinda of insect hive/nest but it glows bright purple.I like how some stages look dirty whilst others look more metallic.

It was developed by Namco, who've made lots of great games including arcade style classics.

You have 3 lives for each credit and after you lose a life you'll need to restart the level from the beginning which is kinda annoying. You have 3 credits(I think)to beat the whole game.

The game has some narration too for it's story/missions.The story is nothing special though,it's basically about bug style aliens trying to conquer the milky way galaxy and you're trying to stop them.

Overall,it's a fun arcade style game with a nice retro/Sci Fi presentation.
