A nice winter vacation. At the end of the world.

All Laura Parton wants to do is see her mother. All she winds up having to do is save human life as we know it. Just your average holiday break.

Following a plane crash, Laura must wander the landscape trying to pick off a throng of alien monsters and stop a mysterious force from ending the world. It might be the same thing that was responsible for the death of the dinosaurs. But this is no simple camping trip. You have to make your own way through the wilderness, which is draped in deep snow and not the most hospitable place. You'll hide in cabins, scrounge for supplies and hunt for rabbits. That's right. You'll kill your dinner.

When you find the compound where the mastermind of the whole business may be hiding, you must evade the guards, commandeer vehicles and *learn* enough to get you to the next target-- or you're done. This isn't just a game of who can beat up the most. It isn't all about blowing up gas tanks. You also have to think.

D2 is that rarity, a visually beautiful and intellectually demanding mystery with strong elements of sci-fi. It consumed many days of playing stints-- and for once, I didn't regret a minute.
