One of the most awesome game ever created on SNES!

User Rating: 10 | Chrono Trigger SNES
Chrono Trigger is one of the many games from Squaresoft that draws my attention. Despite the fact that it may not have as many fans as other games in its own class, I bet most of those who have ever played this game has completed it a couple of times until they reach to the point that everything in the game is memorisable; from the fastest way to beat the game to every secret spots and chests in dungeons.

I am very surprised with the graphics the game possesses. Chrono Trigger brings stunning graphics and a very pleasing view of the world. Every character and monster in the game is a large, fully animated and awesomely drawn to perfection. The developer even takes one step further by perfectly develop the concept arts, character profiles, and in-game sprites are carefully designed to the smallest detail. As a result, players will be impressed by the consistency of the graphics I bet no other game on the system can match it.

Moving on to the sounds of Chrono Trigger, I can say that the sounds match the sights. The famed composer Yasunori Mitsuda has done a great job with the soundtracks of the game, making it one of the best and the most unforgettable soundtracks of any RPG on the system. Most of the soundtracks are comprised of variations on the complex and epic main theme and this will absolutely add the sense of consistency of the game. Worry not, the tracks still maintain enough variety you will not feel tired playing through it.

The gameplay of Chrono Trigger is really nice and it introduces a number of interesting new concepts. When walking around in dungeons or forests or any place except the world map, monsters will wonder around looking for preys. You can actually see them coming after you and basically it depends on you whether to engage the fight or find a way to evade unnecessary clash. Whenever a monster touches you, battle will instantly begin between your party and every monster in the screen. This way, you will not have to wait the battle to show up in the beginning and after the battle, hence saving time from game's loading time if compared to other RPGs. This surely is a pleasant experience especially if you want to do some grinding in certain places.

One of the unique characteristic of the game is how the magic system works. Each of Crono Trigger's seven characters is given their own unique element that defines the set of spells that they can use in battle. Chrono for example, is Lightning-based element and is able to use lighting-based spells only. Since most bosses have their own elemental strengths and weaknesses, this would make some characters useless when in battle. But you will have the initiative to make use the very innovative combo system. If two or three characters are all ready to act in the same time, they will be able to perform a combination spell yielding extra damage and range, if only the spells are compatible.

The story of Chrono Trigger is typical from the perspective of RPG-type game but a little twist here and there made the game quite unique. Over the course of the game, you are required to hop back and forth through time by using 'Gate' in order to avoid various crises. This element adds quite a bit of depth to some of the side quests in the game, and allows you to enjoy a very different kind of story.

The best part of the game that really shines is when the game has been completed for the first time. After beating the game once, a New Game+ option appears, allowing you to start the game over from the beginning but you can keep your characters' stats and levels, money, and equipment. Not only does this make it possible to play through the game in shorter time, it is also possible to gain multiple copies of unique pieces of armours to further strengthen your characters. You are also able to beat the game with many different endings by meeting a certain requirements and at the same time giving the game a high replay value.

To conclude, Chrono Trigger is an awesome game and truly a revolutionary. Even though the game is not that difficult (thank God), it has the certain qualities to keep you play through again and again and surely will give you the unforgettable moments exploring the world of Chrono Trigger.
