A classic that even compares to modern day games.

User Rating: 9 | Chrono Trigger SNES
PROS:
-Thrilling storyline
-Great characters
-Cool anime graphics

CONS:
-Repetitive and easy fighting mechanics.
-Confusing for casual gamers

In it's day, Chrono Trigger was monumental but even today, it can be compared to modern day games. You can't say this for a lot of older games but Chrono Trigger is the exception.

Story line: Chrono Trigger still has one of the best story lines to date. It builds on each character throughout the game and really attaches you to them. There is just something about it, something that keeps you playing and wanting to know more. At some points, however, it might become rather confusing. There are many theories of what the game represents, some even say that it is based on the bible (doubt it). You will just have to see for yourself (you can find emulators and roms online).

Graphics: Obviously it doesn't compare to modern day graphics, but for it's time, it had amazing graphics. The sword fighting and ability animation of the characters is just badass. It makes you feel like a real warrior. This is again something that you can only understand by playing.

Fighting mechanics: This is a disappointing part of the game. The mechanics are repetitive and sometimes ridiculous. Ridiculous as in a 2 man attack that take 6 mp does as much damage as a basic attack. Honestly, it's a bit ridiculous sometimes. Sometimes you will find yourself mashing a button to spam the basic attack if you run out of mp. I guess it could be a little fun but for the casual gamer, it could be annoying.

All-in-all, Chrono Trigger is a classic that deserves to at least be tried by anyone, if not for the fighting, for the story.

EDIT:
Soundtrack: Almost forgot this part. Chrono Trigger has literally THE BEST music of any game ever. Without the music, the game would lose all of it's charm. The epic compositions put players in a trance. Play with your volume way up.
