If one decides to watch trailers, game-play and read about the game, he/she would not make a mistake.

User Rating: 6.5 | Castlevania: Lords of Shadow PS3
Castlevania: LoS was my first PS3 game that I bought, sometime last summer. Before I bought it, I watched trailers, read reviews, saw rating systems and also read what GameSpot thought about the game. All I can say is that in their review, I agreed 100% with them. Castlevania has really cool visuals and all characters and bosses are designed marvellously, even the environment. I cannot say that I regret it to have bought the game, no way, but I was eager to find it more fun and addictive than it actually is, because once I read that Konami was partially involved in the creation of the game, I thought that this game was going to be super, but in my opinion it is a fair one.
As for the story per se, I am not giving any spoilers, but it is quite good. I can't say that it is original and that's something that we have never seen before, but it has good twists and plots, in which during the game, certain motives and storylines, are explained and they leave you like 'wow the story is cool'. Castlevania was also a running series on the PS2, not sure if it was on PS as well, anyway, on the PS2, I only played it once, but it was repetitive and somewhat easy. To be honest I did not complete it because it was at a certain point I was getting bored. On the PS3, things changed somehow, not changed completely but they changed. Following is a list of my views and opinions that relate to the game:

Pros:
• Visuals - As said before, visuals and characters are very well designed, even the bosses
• Combo list - The fighting mechanism is also really cool, the combo-list is big, and therefore there are many combos to choose from and learn/buy whilst progressing.
• Special artifacts - When beating each boss, you will gather special artifacts with special powers and features, making it much cooler when delivering attacks. It also includes wings, in which you can hover and jump higher, and also boots, in which they let you run faster for a short period of time
• Powers - You can activate your character which two special powers at once, in which you will need them to fight the last boss and solve certain puzzles.

Cons:
• Repetitive - you can go back and forth into chapters, but you have to kill the creatures each time you go back to a specific level. You may need to go back, because you may need to find gems. These gems let you raise your health, and your power bars.
• All at one once - Bosses are not easy. I put this on the bad side, not because they are hard to kill, but before you try to kill them, you have to fight against a massive troop of creatures. I do manage to kill the creatures, but every time I confronted each boss, I was always left with little health, and eventually being killed in the progress. Therefore I used to flick the gameplay to easy mode, in order to have my health restored, otherwise I had no chance. (Maybe because I am not an expert!)
• Boring puzzles - Same and boring puzzles. Puzzles don't seem to change, in my opinion these were made just for the sake to fill up the game.
• Tedious bosses – I am not going into detail about this, but there are certain bosses, whom they are very big and tedious to kill, not difficult, but very tedious. Watch out for them!
• Don't they just stop? – Sometimes, the game may become irritant, because certain creatures, although they are easy to kill, they keep coming at you, it's like they never stop coming!
