Easier to play than a real board game.

Carcassonne in Xbox Live Arcade is a great way to bring a classic board game to digital medium.

Goal in Carcassonne is to build roads, castles and other real estate by using different puzzle pieces shaped like a square. The catch here is that you need to place a follower to a road, a field or a castle AND finish it in order to gain points. Pieces are shaped so that there's practically an infinite amount of maps created from them. It's quite fun especially when played against other human player. In my opinion the best part is that the game counts points by itself so you don't have worry about that like you do in a real board game.

Graphics are simple, but colorful and they do their job well. Sound effects are also simple, but appropriate and it's worth mentioning that the musical score in the background is memorable and pleasant to listen.

Tutorials are made in a way that anyone can download this game and start playing after spending some time in game's instructions. There's a single player mode with multiple difficulty levels, but the real way to play Carcassonne is with other players via Xbox Live. Connections work just like they should so there's almost zero lag at all times.

If you really enjoy this game there are a few downloadable add-ons available, which give Carcassonne even more variety in its otherwise pretty simple (but addicting) gameplay.

If you enjoy playing classic board games against other people via Xbox Live then by all means check this game out.
