Just a little less disappointing

User Rating: 6.5 | Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood PC
Call of Juarez was a game i very much wanted to like, but never did. it just wasnt fun enough and didnt have much going for it to really make it stick out or even motivate me enough to keep playing. I had high hopes for Bound In Blood, in due part to a lot of praise it has received from reviewers and some users alike. Im here to say that in my opinion those people are wrong, and this game wasn't very fun or much of an improvement over the original.

Story
BiB has a competent story to keep you going, but doesnt really have any plot twists until the end, and even then it was really weak/stupid. You start off in the civil war as a confederate, and then desert to find a treasure in Mexico. Really not that interesting, but its barely enough to keep the story going.

Gameplay
BiB really gives a good feel to the west, with duels, authentic feeling weapons, and an overall authentic feel. what WASNT authentic was the enemies being so far away and hidden most of the time that you would just end up dying cheap deaths many times, but the game was enough fun that i kept going. Man those enemies pissed me off so much, as they really didn't have to be behind a bush behind a rock in a forest. Seriously techland, i shouldn't need a magnifying glass to play a freaking game. Like in the first one, you can get new weapons and do some side missions to earn some extra money, but even after playing the game for 10 hours it gets pretty repetitive despite its relatively short length.

Graphics
The visuals are a bit of hit and miss, like the first one was. The character models look a lot better at least, with more realistic facial expressions and gestures. The environments look great, but i dont know what was going on with the shadows. They were pixely and low resolution, even on the highest visual level. The explosions looked pretty good, but the shadows really do mess with you, because they reflect oddly on guns and everything else in the environment a bit. Overall the visuals are pretty good, but not that impressive.

I really was expecting BiB to be a big improvement over the original. It ended up being only marginally better, just giving some understanding on to what made up the characters in CoJ. I wouldnt recommend it. Cheap deaths suck, and are the only reason it took me longer than 7 hours to finish it.
