Hop in your SuperCar and go rescue your girlfriend in this addictive arcade style racer.

User Rating: 8.2 | Bump 'n' Jump NES
You're girlfriend has been kidnapped and you've got to rescue her by speeding through five sections of highway, over and over.

The graphics are very clean and simple. The music is pleasantly cute and catchy. Sound effects are decent from the cute bongy sound of bumping things, to the screech of your brakes and weird jumping sound made when you jump. Play occurs from a top down, 3rd person perspective. All you need do is survive by bumping enemies into obstacles or jumping on them until you reach the finish line. You'll primarily be dealing with three cars on the road and larger trucks that will dump obstacles in your path. The tracks themselves have obstacles you must avoid like islands, water, overpasses, and the like. Oil slicks will result in a few second of being unable to steer or jump. There are petrol cans you can pick up to refuel, but you won't need to worry about that till much later stages where there is terrain that will slow you down, but not your fuel consumption. You also get points for the amount of fuel that's left in your car at the end of the stage.

Once you've finished the first five stages, you start them over again. They become progressively more difficult with more irritating trucks and obstacles to contend with which will force you to pay attention to your jumps, or you might find yourself toast. This can make the game very frustrating as it's difficult enough to steer while bumping around and often you'll find yourself jumping before an obstacle and having a right time trying to land it properly without crashing, when it's possible. I'll again place huge emphasis on the frustration. If you've managed to survive through the first five to ten levels, the last thing you want to do is die because you jumped at the wrong moment. And when you die, there's no continue option unless you use the continue cheat. Either way, all is not lost if you really want to see how long this game lasts. The stages of the game are fairly short, but having 17+ stages to bump and jump through, it'll easily keep you entertained for awhile. It's quite addictive, fun to play, and a great title for the NES, despite the frustrations of it's high difficulty.
