Braid is beautiful... and overrated.

I originally gave this title a lavish review on the 360 but by the time I finished it the beauty of the graphics began to wear off and I saw Braid for what it was: a clever take on a tired formula bound in a confusing metaphor of a story with excellent art.

As a mario-esque platformer Braid is innovative and fresh but once its attractiveness wears off the frustration of its back-forward time mechanics begins to grate on your nerves. Add to that a bewildering story you will either love or hate (I'd saw probably 60% fall into the latter) and Braid winds up being pretty overrated. Let me put it to you this way: I regret spending 14.99 on this one. At 6.99 my opinion would remain the same but after finishing it and realizing it had practically zero replay value 15 bucks is a little steep.
