Cracking DLC until they unleash yet another Level 50+ boss into a game that already has 3

User Rating: 7 | Borderlands 2: Mr. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage X360
First things first… I love Borderlands and Borderlands 2, they're great games and the blend of FPS and RPG is enough to keep me happy when I'd normally ignore a FPS like the plague.

As such I lap up extra content for the game… but the DLC is starting to leave a nasty taste in the mouth.

I don't play online, I'm generally not a social animal… I play on my lonesome so if I die it's more or less my own fault… and I can handle that.

But I also like Achievements, and the obsession with including a huge Level 50+ boss in everything is getting annoying… really annoying.

I like Crawmerax in the original, and I can handle the presence of Terramorphus in the main game… but why did they need to put not one but two into Captain Scarlett's and yet another one in Campaign of Carnage?

I like the idea of hunting down the other contenders to exact revenge, it makes the arena matches just about tolerable (we all know the arena missions are just flat out poor, there's a reason the arena DLC for the original Borderlands was considered the worst of the bunch) which has to be seen as a plus.

I love the idea of different vending machines offering up Legendary weapons, the re-use of great characters like Tiny Tina and even the thinly disguised Motor Momma… it's all good, shooting things and making them explode is always fun, it's very hard to go wrong on a game like this… but this obsession with massive boss battles is having a damn good try.

Mr Torgue himself comes across as a very similar character to that of Jesse Ventura when he commentated for the WWE in the 1980's… over the top, load and pumped full of steroids, it's certainly a change from having characters politely ask you to fetch something for them, and the game does a half decent job of disguising the usual brand of fetch/kill quests that RPGs love so much and for the points it offers a decent amount of playing time… but I'm sick of being tasked with killing something that just shouldn't be there… maybe if they'd increased the Level Cap my pain would have been eased… but no, 2 DLC's down and we're still waiting for something even close to "Zombie Island" from the original.
