One of the best Bomberman games out there is definitely worth checking out.

User Rating: 8 | Bomberman Hero: Milian Oujo o Sukue! N64
If you're already a fan of the series and don't know if you should buy it or not, don't waste your time thinking and go give it a shot. It's,like a said, one of the best games on the franchise. Now let's go to the details:

-Story:
Bomberman Hero's story is simple, but nice. You start off in some sort of Bomber base where Bomberman and others seem to train. It already feels good walking through those automatic doors at the beginning. The game seems to always give off that good and pure that good games on the Nintendo 64 tend to give to me.When Bomberman is heading for his training,he hears a loud noise outside, while on the elevator and is able to watch some sort of thing falling from the sky.He goes off to his training on the base anyway, and you go through the first Area of the first World.

Anyway,Bomberman heads to the mountain on his planet to search of the fallen UFO.He then finds out a certain Robot who asks for him to help after the princess with has been kidnapped by a certain villain.Bomberman then heads off trying to save the princess going from planet to planet trying to save her and to stop Garaden's plans to steal a certain CD,which was in the princess's possession.

-Gameplay:
The controls are simple, using the A button to jump, the B button to throw a bomb(You can also hold the button to throw a bunch of simultaneous bombs) and the R button to just set the bomb on the ground. There are also items to improve your abilities.

This game is divided in Worlds, that are sub-divided in Areas.Normally there are three areas for each world with around 5 stages for you to go through.

Now let's talk about the stages itself. An stage can either be a normal stage,a boss stage or a vehicle stage. There's also Bonus stages which can be accessed by clearing the worlds.

Normal Stages:You control Bomberman through the stage getting points for each thing you do(Ex:Destroying a simple monster gives you 100 points, getting a blue crystal gives you 50 points). Each stage has a point minimum for you to reach.Depending on how many points you got you'll receive a number from 1 to 5 regarding your score. If you get the minimum or more you get 5,and that's how it works. On the end of each world you receive a Medal based on the sum of all the scores you obtained,

Each Stage has It's pretty much a platform stage where you need to be careful not to lose your 4-life bar completely and end up losing a life. After losing all your lives, you receive a Game Over.Don't worry though, the Game Over will only reset your crystal count, your game will still be saved right before the stage where you lost.More details on the crystals later.

Vehicle Stages:Pretty much the same way as the normal stages, but Bomberman is now on a vehicle,so the controls and feel of the stage are different.Bomberman can either be on a jet in his back,a stylish skateboard,a head helicopter or an propeller on hiss legs to swim underwater. While Skateboard stages are pretty much collecting stages where you use the skateboard to defeat your enemies, and not bombs;the other three vehicles work pretty similar with the R Button being used for throwing a bomb, the A button for accelerating(propeller)or ascending(helicopter) and the B button for stopping(jet) and backtracking(propeller).

Boss Stages:There's only a boss fight in it,and the Point System works as a reverse
clock from 9999 to 0000,and if you clear the stage fast enough you'll get a good score.

-Graphics:
The game has a very nice feeling to it and really makes you feel like you're in Bomberman's universe. The graphics are very nice and you won't be bothered by it,which to me,would be the biggest problem graphics could cause, but there's nothing of that in this game. All the enemies and bosses seem cool enough and fit well in the whole thing.

-Fun:
This game is fun,but how to get the best of this game is up to you.If you're not young anymore and don't feel like playing simple gameplay-wise games, that's fine, but you might be losing some great Nintendo 64 games if you always feel like that. This is a great Nintendo 64 for game and i recommend for anyone who wants to give it a try

Overall:
The game might not be one of the top 5 on this console but it could be a great game if you know how to play it.It's always good to try to change your way of thinking and playing to experience different games some times, and I recommend you to not ignore anything because of what it may look like to you.Just give it a try! It's also available for Wii's Virtual Console,so why not?
