Game-play is on par with your AVERAGE shooter and extremely lacking in depth. Nothing more than run 'n gun with a handful of spells at your disposal. The game is lacking in its customization system leaving one to search for gear and purchase upgrades instead of growing/ specializing the abilities you favor the most. The sky-rail is a new feature that lets you zip around above the battlefield, however this tends to feel a bit gimmicky as you can be just as effective in combat when on the ground.
The story and environment are what set this game above average. Columbia is extremely well developed and the story is a great discourse on the social and political environment of America both historically and presently. The characters are very well developed and full of personality.
If you are looking to experience a great story and little else, then you should play this game. If you are looking for cutting edge mechanics and challenging combat, then this one might leave you wanting.
