Cute, solid, and moderately fun. But with really interesting adventurers out there, moderate is not enough.

Let's get into the thick of it. Deep into the simple levels of Billy Hatcher. Say, the tenth one you encounter. You're rolling an egg until it gets bigger and hatches into either a new hat, or a Pokemon-type animal that you can use to fight enemies. Simple enough. Okay. The twentieth level. You're still doing the same thing. Yeah, sure, the levels change, yeah sure, the layout changes slightly, but it's still simple as hell. And it's not the fun kind of simple that you get from Mario. Because Mario is a classic, and has many aspects of chance that you just don't get here.

The graphics are solid enough, I haven't encountered a glitch yet, but they need to be a bit prettier. Solid isn't enough.

The gameplay is different, and not too repetitive, but it's really not that challenging at all. It's very innovative, and extremely cutesy, but I can't help feeling that this game may've been one of the reasons for other gamers to brand the GameCube as a 'kid's console'. And that doesn't sit well with me.

The Lifespan is quite long, but the game is simple, so you'll be able to finish it pretty quick.

The game in principle is quite cool but there's something missing. Another dimension, not just the innovation. Maybe if some levels you play as another character that hatches a completely different type of egg. Say, dinosaur eggs. Just a break from the norm, another factor, something that makes it significantly different, not just the fact that we're now rolling eggs.
