I get it. Really, I do. Some people feel like games shouldn't be movies. Games should be completely interactive, always letting the player control the action. That's fine. But for those of us who don't feel that way. For those of us who want to play games that care about emotion, cinematic presentation, and most of all a great story, Beyond: Two Souls is gaming nirvana.
I loved Heavy Rain. At the time of it's release, there was nothing like it. And like Beyond, it was emotional and well presented with a great story. But it was also a very dark and depressing story that kept your emotions in that corner. Beyond runs the gambit on emotion. There are scenes of happiness, misery, depression, desperation, love, hate, resentment...you get the picture.
I could go on for a lifetime about this game, but it all boils down to this: if you like this kind of game, if you loved Heavy Rain, or if you are thinking about giving Beyond a try, I'm just telling you that I've been playing games for 30 years and Beyond if the most enjoyable gaming experience of my life. It is a masterpiece in every way. I'm not sure if a game or story has ever satisfied me fully, buy Beyond did. I can't give enough thanks to Quantic Dream for the experience. So give it a try. You just might have a great experience, too.
