Batman: Arkham Knight Review

User Rating: 8 | Batman: Arkham Knight PS4

I would like to start off this review by saying that I am a huge Batman fan. I have read every New 52 Bat-family comic book and I have seen every Batman film dozens of times, yes even the awful Batman and Robin film. With that being said however I could not in good taste give this game anything higher than an eight. Even though the story in this game is above and beyond that of most third person action games, there is so much in this game that is not that great. So let's begin this review by discussing what the game does very well.

The games main story line, like I stated earlier, is amazing. Although what is supposed to be the most surprising moment in the game, the reveal of The Arkham Knight, is foreshadowed so heavy that the player will know his identity hours before the reveal. However the game makes up for this by including multiple moments that are genuinely surprising.

That being said almost all of the side quests in the game feel like a grind and not rewarding in the slightest. The first part of the Riddler missions is one of the shining examples of the greatness of the game. Though after you finish this first part you are forced to solve all of the Riddler trophies in which there are 243.

Another reason why the game doesn't rise above an eight for me is that there are no memorable boss fights, and the Bat-mobiles tank mode is forced into the game at every turn. The last negative point that I will discuss in this review is that the Knightfall ending is disappointing, so much so that I feel that collecting all of the trophies and finishing all of the side missions isn't worth it.

All and all however Batman: Arkham Knight is a fitting end to the Rocksteady Arkham Trilogy. However in my opinion Arkham City is the quintessential Batman game.

My Score, 8/10 Great.

Thank You,

Alex
