A theory for 21st December? Try out Assassin's Creed 3..!!

User Rating: 9 | Assassin's Creed III PS3
Assassin's Creed has been a long running series. Back to year 2007 where AC1 was introduced. What has been placed on the table back then was fresh goods nobody experience with yet.

What AC3, ... 5 years later, now introduces is a very refined mechanics of assassination gameplay. Horned by the many instalments along the way, AC3 shines out and is what I consider, the best yet in the series.

Graphics:

Assassin's creed 3's graphics is crisp, clear and vibrant. The lighting effect was good, sometimes too good when during the white loading screen, I felt like a flash bang went off in front of me.

There are many tiny details in the game, from your character, to the animals on the ground and all the building being your potential playground. Water looked very real and has that reflection to it. But time has aged the PlayStation 3, pop-in of details is prominent and sometimes a split second of lag when action gets too crowded on screen.

I have to particularly mention the naval battles, all your crews on deck the ship as well as the ship itself, the landscapes had stunning details. The waves and waves of water on the seas looked fantastic. I'll have to mention the weather system as well, realistic.

Gameplay:

You take a couple roles in the assassin's line. Unlike the previous instalments, you get to play around with multiple different characters this time around, especially Connor Kenway, from young to a full grown assassin.

The game now takes place in United States, mainly the then New York and Boston. Each town featured as well as the suburban area are nicely craft and has a different environment for you to hope around. A newly introduced game mechanics is climbing trees in AC3. While it does work, it seldom gives player the freedom on the direction but does well in traveling across different places you will need.

The game now has more variety for you to hide in the event you are wanted. No longer are there plenty of hiding spots on the rooftops. Instead, u have wagons, bushes and crowds to hide in now. You will have to now carefully spot your hiding place and go for it.

Animals are introduced, they're in town area for you to pet them, like feeding them. Or you could hunt them in the wild using different methods to gain items from them to sell to shop for money.

Combat gives you guns now but it's very slow to reload, similarly for your enemies as well. In fact, your enemies takes so long to reload, you are given time to hold a scapegoat during the period. As usual, a short hidden blade for your character to do assassinations quietly. You have the option to buy weaponries from shops and also find weapon receipts from treasure boxes scattered around the game.

Did I mentioned Naval Battle scenes? There was quite a few of it and it makes the game fresh after much assassination. The flaw previous ACs had was while we appreciate the lengthiness, it was often to the point of boredom due to lack of varieties. Thanks to Ubisoft SG, we now have naval battle scenes in between different missions. A definite step up and I like it a lot.

Multiplayer takes on a more simple approach. You get online, get into a game, choose your charactor. Given a picture of the person you need to assassinate, you calmly walk the street of the game, when you're near ur target, the detection bar fills to tell you of your prey being nearby. Find your prey and kill him to gain points, while doing all these, you're targeted by another player, when that assassin gets near you, you get a unique melody to signal you, either to flee or identity your assassin and stun him.

Audio:

Voice acting is brilliant. You can see all the efforts place onto it. There were lots of characters that you will meet throughout the game and each character is pretty unique to it's own voice. There are much emotions to the dialogue as well.

When you're discovered, guards are shouted for enemies to gather allies to take you down. When the civilians saw someone get killed, they panic around too. When you pet the animals, some of them responds back.

Conclusion:

Assassin's Creed 3 is a very polish game you can expect. Lots of things to do, lots of variety in gameplay. The opportunity to get into different characters and play them instead of just one. All the different landscapes, town areas to rural areas.

The only complaint I would have is the fluidity of the movement, sometimes you get frustrated the game doesn't act like you want it to. As well as some minor bugs. Other than that, AC3 is a game one absolutely shouldn't miss. You could catch up on youtube on AC1 and AC2 as well as brotherhood and revelations though if you missed out any.
