The Sims 4 Now Available to Pre-Load

Find out how to torture your newest batch of Sims ASAP.

If you want to play The Sims 4 as soon as it's released, you can now pre-load the game on your PC, Electronic Arts has announced.

The option to download the game and have it ready to launch as soon as it's released is currently rolling out to everyone who pre-ordered a copy through Origin. When it's available in your area, simply launch Origin and hover your cursor over the game tile in your Game Library to check if it's available.

Once The Sims 4 is pre-loaded, your game will unlock when it launches in your region. If you live in the United Stated, that means 12 AM EDT on September 2, or 9 PM PDT on September 1.

Fans in other regions can find their local release schedule below:

  • September 2: North America, Central Asia, and Russia.
  • September 4: Australia, Japan, and Europe (excluding the UK).
  • September 5: New Zealand, India, South Africa, and the UK.

If you want to know how your PC will handle The Sims 4, you can find the system requirements here.

I can't wait to play the Sims 4 tonight. I know a lot of people are hating the pools and toddles being gone. But we also have to remember they will probably have expansion packs and believe it might be better to wait. I'm okay with waiting because they made the game i am pretty sure there is a good reason why they couldn't add them. I play the Sims 3 every couple of days if I get the chance and none of my families houses have pools. I don't use them or go to the community pool. Toddlers I never really liked because of how much you have to spend teaching them everything! I bought the walker and playpen so they can teach them for me. I would be just as excited if they were there though only because it is a new game and it is more stuff added then taken out. :) Can't wait to get off work tonight in play!

People, the Sims is a game for fun, just like any other game. If you don't like it don't pay any attention to it, posting negative remarks doesn't do you any good. They made $8.4 million from the Sims 3 in just a week, their going to keep making money from those who do like it.. So move a long :)

Clearly the people who buy this game just to kill off their sims aren't the target audience, and good riddance. I can think of very few situations in which I built houses and just cut off a huge area of space by building a useless pool. Not really sad about the feature's removal, toddlers were a pain in the ass to raise, also not really sad about their removal. Looking forward to this rendition, maybe the game will actually run smoothly without bloated save games now.

I wish it was available on Mac

I wish The Sims 4 would look realistic instead of cartoony but what can you do? I'm just going to play it for what it is and hope really hard that Sims 5 will actually look realistic in like 5 years

I became hugely infautuated  with CAS of Sims 4, but being there is no Create a Style, toddlers, pools and a lot more than what I could even expect to be cut off..for 59.99 there ain't no way.

Is there anyway you could get this at a much cheaper rate such as 20.00?  Because that's honestly with the cut back from content  is about how much it is worth if not less.

No need. I have Sims 3 already installed.

It's really amazing how the graphics get less and less detailed with each iteration. EA at its best. Maxis R.I.P

Sims fans should boycott this game until it is fixed. Unfortunately that won't happen :(

Wait... People still care for this?

No thanks. Not until you add pools. I want the game for building awesome homes not observing feelings...

"The Sims 4 Now Available to Pre-Load" So EA can start ripping you off early with its newest micro transaction full retail priced premium paid lacking content game. Go away EA go to your master in the greed pit of hell.

Got the sims 2 ultimate bundle with all DLC's for free so I wont be worrying about this game for awhile, if ever. Too many things were taken out of the base game.

I got a feeling the reviews won't be so kind to this game as so far, from what I've researched, this game will be a major step back.

hahaha the system specs are laughable.... 128 MB of GPU memory lol

and 8GB.........:D not sure if I need to preload something that takes 10 mins to download

but Thanks EA for ruining the Sims forever...

It's only 8gb, no idea why you would need to preload. But whatever, it's downloaded.

@natalie420 People make negative remarks for entertainment also. If you are unable to express an opinion then it sucks.... especially when it's about a game series you love.

@natalie420 I like the Sims, but I'm very wary of the Sims 4 because they've openly admitted to taking out huge chunks of content that was in previous games, refuse to let reviews come out before it was released and seem to be repeating the events of the Sim City release. So it's not just a matter of people bitching about it because they don't like the games (though that'll happen for all games).  It's something to be very suspicious about. It may end up being amazing, but caution is advised.

@wendywindow realistic how like Skyrim?  Newsflash:  CGI characters that try to look photorealistic end up looking LESS realistic than say a Disney cartoon character looks.  Soulless androids with dead eyes and stilted movement that seem to been suspended from strings like puppets are waaaaay less realistic than good animated cartoonish characters.

Zorlac

@DefconRave If you think this is less detailed you're blind. I've played sims since the start, and this looks amazing even compared to 3. You really don't know what you're talking about.

@Morphibiann Most people that play The Sims don't really have a gaming computer, that was the main criticism for Sims 3. That being said, I'm also a bit disapointed by the visuals, I was hoping that us, with gaming PCs, would be able to crack up the graphics a bit...but oh well.

@berserker66666 I heard SimGuruGraham interviewed and he said, as I recall, pools, basements would break the game engine...believe it was twitter

@berserker66666 not really good at been a psychopath are ya soo many more ways to torture them then taking the ladders out of the pool

one of them is to lock them in a room without doors

I have a gaming PC which worths 5,000 USD (excluding audiophile devices). The most often played games in recent 3 years are Dark Souls 2, The Sims 3, and Minesweeper; all of them are not hardware demanding games.

I don't expect all PC games to look equally favorable on my PC. I just want to maximize the experience playing my beloved games.

hystavito
hystavito

@Shilleto I remember doing that in the original The Sims, or maybe it was 2, walling people in and they'd die.  I thought they had changed that some time ago, at least in The Sims 3, so that it no longer worked.

@herves1994 @berserker66666 if the sim burns to death expect no reactions from other sims, they ignored that in the live twitch tv stream the other day ...  smarter sims, emotional sims ????

jevrick_norom
jevrick_norom

@atlassys8 you bought a $5000 rig and played minesweeper and TS3 on it??? You should expand that library if you're sitting on that potential.

atlassys8
atlassys8

@jevrick_norom I have played both Oblivion and Skyrim for hundreds of hours. I played The Witcher 1 and 2, and preordered The Witcher 3. I also played lots of non-AAA games, such as Rogue Legacy, Hammerwatch, Torchlight, Trine, Guacamelee, Venetica, and Drakensang. I enjoyed all of them.

I don't play graphically demanding games just because I have a high-performance rig.

P.S. Minesweeper doesn't require modern CPU or GPUs, but an adequate gaming mouse matters.
