Sony seeking 'Destiny of Spirits' trademark

PlayStation maker files mystery application that covers game software.

Sony has filed an application with the United States Patent & Trademark Office for "Destiny of Spirits." The March 26 application covers "computer game software; electronic game software for handheld electronic devices; video game software."

No further information is available and a Sony representative was not immediately available to comment.

Numerous high-profile game companies have filed trademark applications with the USPTO of late. Bungie recently filed bids for Glimmer, Hive, Fallen, Cabal, and Vex. Meanwhile, Microsoft wants to trademark Marlow Briggs and a Bethesda trademark suggests a Fallout TV show may be in the works.

Well, its a start.  Sony YOU need only 50 more for the near term future. I want NEW IP. A few a year from your different first and second party development houses.

people skeptical of every article, even the most boring ones. wierdos.

why post in every article claiming april fools? some of these articles are boring and would be terrible april fools fodder.

as far as this trademark, sony makes new ips all the time, so i wouldn't be surprised either way.

Given the date of the application, I'm going to assume that this is legitimate (for the moment at least).  But speculation about what it relates to is probably pointless.  Lots of trademarks get filed and are then never actually used, so who knows?

Destiny.. Announced exclusive content with Bungie at the PS4 reveal..

Id say it fits rather well.  It'll just be something that works with their platforms for that, like an app or something.

Unless of course it's much more, like a new AAA exclusive where you play an alcoholic addicted to spirits.. an you roll around throwing bottles of whisky at people and hurling out the window of a bus - that would be the destiny of a man addicted to spirits.

Either way I'm happy.

Why do they keep using that BF4 screenshot for every other article? I've seen it like 50 times in 50 different articles already.

@Velazkid I do not know why the Battlefield 4 image is showing up here. I'm looking into it.

@Velazkid Might be because of April the 1st Fools day. I think I'm gonna leave gamespot alone for this day.
