We're just months away from the PlayStation 5's third anniversary, and if you've been looking to pick up Sony's excellent console, there's no better time than now as the PlayStation Back to School promotion enters its final days. Sony introduced substantial discounts to PS5 consoles, controllers, and games this month, and you still have time to take advantage of these deals before the sales event ends on August 19.

While the most notable deal in the Back to School sale is on the PS5 console itself, which you can save $50 on, you won't want to miss out on first-party games that have seen massive discounts applied to them. The sale includes all of Sony's heavy-hitters, like the challenging remake of Demon's Souls, the historical epic Ghost of Tsushima, and the cinematic adventure that is God of War: Ragnarok. On average, these games are available brand-new for around $20-$50 cheaper than their regular $70 price.

Amazon has fun--and visually impressive when you want to show off your new console purchase--games like Returnal, Gran Turismo 7, and Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales available with big discounts, and you can also find more first-party game deals at several other retailers. As a reminder, there are still some big games on the horizon in 2023, alongside the excellent titles that have already been released this year. Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is a PS5 exclusive that arrives on October 20, and there's still Alan Wake 2, Baldur's Gate 3, Mortal Kombat 1, Assassin's Creed Mirage, and much more to look forward to.

This is the first time that the PS5 has ever received an official discount, but you'll only find the standard PS5 with disc drive for the $450 sale price. You can even grab a PS5 bundle with a copy of Modern Warfare II for $490 from several retailers. The PS5 console deal is still available at all of the big retailers, including Best Buy, Amazon, Walmart, GameStop, and Target.

To go along with the console, you can also pick up a DualSense controller for just $49 (usually $70) and Sony's Pulse 3D headset for $70 (down from $100).
