It was announced today that the award-winning composer Inon Zur has composed the soundtrack for Microids' Syberia II. Zur's previous game credits include SOCOM II: U.S. Navy SEALs, Icewind Dale II, Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal, and the upcoming Champions of Norrath: Realms of EverQuest.

"Anchored with an orchestral cinematic backdrop, Inon masterfully blended music and instrumentation from Eastern Europe with indigenous Eastern tribal music to create Syberia II's soundtrack," said Michael Elman, the game's sound designer. "The result is the most intellectually and emotionally driven game score I have heard yet."

"The intriguing storyline and beautiful animation for Syberia II were most inspirational", added Zur. "The idea of traveling to this mystical setting initiated my own journey, which led to places I've never been before musically, allowing me to explore new territory as a composer. The cinematic elements in the game are also very strong. The short movies are masterfully crafted, evoking the best from me as a composer."

Syberia II is currently scheduled for release on the PC in March and on the PS2 and Xbox later this year. For more information, check out our previous coverage of the game.
