Fallout 4 trademarked in Europe by Bethesda

Bethesda Softworks LLC trademarks Fallout 4 name.

Bethesda has trademarked the Fallout 4 name in Europe, a posting on the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Markets website has revealed.

The website serves as the official trademark office of the European Union. According to the post, Fallout series developer Bethesda Softworks LLC made the application, which has been marked with the date of receipt as November 14, 2013.

Earlier this month, a website registered to Bethesda's parent company Zenimax went live with a countdown clock, which suggested an announcement would be made on December 10.

The rumored Fallout 4 is believed to be set in Boston, Mass. The most recent Fallout title was 2010's Fallout: New Vegas, which was developed by Obsidian Entertainment and set in a postapocalyptic Las Vegas.

Bethesda has also recently trademarked Starfield and Soulburst, as well as Void Engine, none of which have been officially announced to date.

They really need to create the game and just call it Fallout.  Then start putting out expansions for the game that will expand the entire Fallout universe.  Lets go back to the DC wasteland and expand all the way to California.  Oh, and bring back Moira Brown.  ~grin~  Shoot, if I can spend 1500+ hours just playing Fallout 3 and its DLC's.  How much more time..and money could I spend on a game that basically includes the whole US of A or Europe.

loved fallout 3 was my first Bethesda game that led me to Skyrim and now started FNV since i bought the version with all the DLC. like it so far. Hopefully has some type of co-op or like fable where you join them but they cant interfer with the main quest since some people are good, neutral or just downright satan incranated. whatever game they are teasing i am getting. also should add romance i mean skyrim had it why not any new games.

"The rumored Fallout 4 is believed to be set in Boston, Mass." Seriously this was dispelled as total bullshit almost as soon as it was rumoured. Why do people keep dragging it back up? Also... OMGF FALLOUT 4!!!!

don't forget bethesda promised us 3 fallout games, and that fo:nv might not even count as one of those as it was developed by obsidian, not bgs

Fallout won't ever be as fun as Elder scrolls, because it's missing Magic and spells casting. Magic can make every insane things possible without logic & explanation...while science fiction always limited by logic, no matter how little. The need to make sense. Hence a world of magic has more possibilities, more mods, more fun.

I want a game like trailer for Elder Scroll Online.  Its the cinematic copy that I love to have FPS for.  The thing is it isn't possible.  It would too much memory and capacity on hard drive.  Why can't they create a game that uses two disk.  Install one of them on hard drive.  The second used to transfer files and save.

When the time comes, 'Fallout 4 mods of the week' please.

And does this mean that they're working on Fallout 4, not FNV2?

Here's my wishlist:

Since It's very likely that Fallout 4 will be on a next-gen console, I demand that it have greatly improved graphics, physics and fps than the 7th gen Fallout games.

They already made 3 games with 16 square mile maps (or around there) so they are presented with two different paths: increase or decrease the map size? With Skyrim, they cut oblivions map size in half or something like it, but instead of copypasting the same fucking terrain repeatedly like in oblivion, they made Skyrim's map somewhat decent.

With an improved engine, they could easily make a much more detailed map than skyrim's, but also greatly improve the map size. If they decide to go with a massive world map, then it's necessary for the player to be able to scavenge and repair parts for vehicles and use them for their own gain, like in Fallout 2.

With weapons, I want there to be a tier system, like in Fable 2 or other games. Basically 1 star weapons would be garage guns found mostly from travelers and raiders. 3-4 star guns would be the average gun you'd find in real life. 5-6 star guns would be military, with 6 star guns being as rare as unique weapons are.

Also, I'm hoping that guns would be more realistic; realistic speed and spread. I've had an idea for a while now, where the crosshair would be a circle with another one. The main circle would be the bullet's spread, and an outer circle would be the player's aiming skill with the gun. Obviously, skills and perks would effect it. For instance, a player with 10 agility / 100 guns (skill) or something would have the outer circle nonexistent, whereas a player with 1 agility and 15 guns (skill) would have the outer circle expand greatly.

If they decide to dumb down the game like they did with skyrim, all I'm asking is they add a different difficulty which keeps the aspects instead of ditching them. Guess that's all..

Crashes? Freezes? Well as long as they make the game autosave every few steps like in 3 then it's not like you lose much progress :|

For some reason I couldn't finish the Fallout games made by Bethesda.  The only one I finished was the original.  I didn't like the story that much in 3.  I only like the music.  Skyrim was the first Bethesda game I really liked.  It didn't make constantly think of leveling up your skills at precise times to maximize your output.  I also prefer the pretty scenery of Skyrim to the dim scenery of Fallout (kind of depressing).  Hopefully they won't stop at making the Elder Scrolls Online.  Hopefully they will make another Elder Scrolls single player game at some point.

I still haven't beaten the expansions to Fallout 3. Are they worth playing? I have also yet to beat the story mode of Vegas.

All I want to see is at least skyrim graphics, which isn't asking all that much. Other than that, maybe a bigger and FULLER map.

They better implement the need to eat and drink like Obsidian did for New Vegas or else I'm not buying...

I understand you have to report video game news, but this is something everyone saw coming. I would be seriously surprised if Fallout 4 didn't ever come out and pretty much nothing surprises me anymore.

I really hope GRAPHICS are nice this time and not choppy how they used to be.... SPEND SOME TIME ON GRAPHICS please

Fallout 4 on PS4 / XB1@ 1080p, 60fps = Heaven. But I need a good story to go with it. FO3 was awesome, NV a bit of a let down but still a good game. Can't wait Bethesdaaaaaa !!!

@ThatOneGamerGuy I hope Fallout 4 is only on next-gen consoles and PC.

They need to forget about current-gen (skyrim had too many issues with the PS3 for DLC), and the games were all pretty buggy.

Hopefully since next-gen consoles all have 8GB of RAM, Bethesda will finally make a decent PC version that will take full advantage of the hardware (Fallout 3 and NV required custom patches/hacks to use more than 3GB of RAM and still be stable).

Also, my guess is that similarly to Fallout 3 and Skyrim, Fallout 4 will be teased in early December (end of that countdown timer puts it close to the VGA's) and won't actually be released until Fall of 2014, by that time very little focus should be on any PS3 or 360.

@ThatOneGamerGuy  Just pointing out, but Skyrim's map was the same size as Oblivions in 2d terms, and bigger in 3d because of all the mountains and hills and all that crap

@Dredcrumb9 Up to you if you want to play the expansions of f3.  But I thought they were pretty good myself.

As for the main story of new vegas - its actually pretty hard.

I tried to speed-run the game and complete the final battle at only level 12 and it was way too hard.

@DeFiLeDTitan In all honesty, with all the next-gen hype and the fact that Fallout 3 is now 5 years old, I'd be pretty damn disappointed if the graphics don't impress.
Then again, the PC version will likely have the crap modded out of it, higher-res textures and all. :D

@cgobeil in fallout 3 and in Skyrim I had to eat and drink to keep my health up. The only time I didnt need to eat or drink is when my character in SKyrim had the healing power.

tightwad34

@Cpt_Cosmonaut That would be nice, but I would rather they spend time refining everything else(mainly gameplay as that's way more important to me) before graphic. They are nothing more than an added bonus IMO.

@lnrdwshtn I completed my first playthrough of Fallout: New Vegas after 500+ hours.

@lnrdwshtn 90 hours between F3 and NV? I assume. Well at least you played them however little it may be.
