Elder Scrolls studio trademarks Soulburst

Zenimax files trademark application covering online and console games.

The Elder Scrolls and Fallout parent publisher Zenimax Media has filed two trademark applications for "Soulburst" covering online and console games.

The applications (via Siliconera) were filed with the United States Patent & Trademark Office on September 2.

No other information is available and a representative for the company declined to comment.

Earlier this year, Zenimax filed a trademark application for Starfield.

One of Bethesda's newest development teams, the Austin, Texas-based Battlecry Studios, is currently working on a new free-to-play game that aims to "redefine" the free-to-play sector. This game has not been announced.

In addition, Bethesda Game Studios--the team behind The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Fallout 3--is working on a new and unannounced project.

GameSpot parent company CBS CEO Les Moonves is a member of the Zenimax Media Board of Directors.

Mmm. Reading about the usual "gimme Fallout 4 already" I'm thinking, I want it and TES6 as much as anyone, I simply love them, but maybe they could give a try with something else? They have tes, "tes with guns" (i don't share this feeling), maybe they could try a futuristic sanbox, or one about pirates or whatever, something new but with the formula we love of deep open world. Just my two cents, FO4 is perfectly welcome though

EDIT: Same formula, but I wouldn't mind some combat improvements...

Soulburst sounds like an expansion or something similar for an Elder Scrolls game. Perhaps an expansion pack for Elder Scrolls online?

Hm, the first reflex makes me think Skyrim DLC/expansion, but i don't really think that's it. Sounds more likely that it's got something to do with that f2p game.

And absolutely nothing points to anything fallout related for me.

Soulburt is a point in the Elder Scrolls lore, it's an ESO expansion.

"An arcane explosion of energy in the Imperial City set off mystical aftershocks that swept across Nirn. Mages died or went mad. Supernatural abominations from the plane of Oblivion, the Daedra, appeared in greater numbers than ever before. The constellation of the Serpent grew so large that it dominated the night sky." ~ http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Timeline.

Soulburst, hopefully it's good.

the name alone without any context sounds like a sweet tart candy or a terrible mobile game.

Bethesda is awesome and I trust anything they make, but for the love of gaming please just give me Fallout 4 already.

How about we just make Fallout 4 and worry about the rest later. First they release an MMO with a $60 price tag, $15 per month subscription fee, and an in-game store to boot. Now they want to revolutionize free to play too, with what, more ways to build in microtransactions? Maybe it will be a small fee per every bug you encounter in a Bethesda game. LOL

Before starting to work on next MMO F2P mmo wait for teso maybe? especially it's not f2p.

@Mega_Skrull nah...we already have way too many futuristic genre games already.. enough of that mess for me lol BGS should simply stick to improving their efforts on the existing titles development. Skyrim was a whole bunch of a mess on consoles, and the other games they port to consoles arent much better either. I just hope they can make a game for the consoles that actually works better next time =D

@WantYouBad Thats quite a bold statement.

I'd say DICE, CD Projekt, Valve and many others are good developers. Sure some of them suffer from evil publishers, but the games are solid.

@meatz666

Yeah, so they can practice with the new console devkits, so when they come to make TES6 they get it right.

Although, they should probably make it PC first, then port it, but my point still stands. TES FTW!

@elfi3 mad mages and Supernatural abominations eh?

sounds like a new dungeon in an online game

too good to be true

@Techn1c4l Absolutely no chance whatsoever. If anything like that is even in the books, they'd never announce or even hint at it and let it interfere with Elder Scrolls Online.

Hopefully one day though.

@Techn1c4l Despite Arena, the subtitle of TES is always the region where the game is. as far as I know, there is no Soulburst in Tamriel... Just a theory

@wexorian Who said it is a MMO that Battlecry is working on? And even if it is one- why can't two different teams work on two different games in the same genre?

@skattestop @WantYouBad I also rate ND, and QD. I also think Ubisoft would make great games if they hired someone else to make them for them.

@meatz666 And Oblivion, which was set in Cyrodiil. But nah, it's too early for a new Elders Scrolls.
