Doom Multiplayer Alpha Test Kicks Off Soon
Before next year's beta, certain players will get access to a multiplayer alpha.
While a Doom beta is still planned to take place next year, a select group of fans will get to participate in an alpha test set to begin in the "coming months."
During QuakeCon's opening ceremony today, it was revealed that attendees will be the first to play Doom's multiplayer mode. Those who aren't at the event still have a chance to play it soon, as id Software will be randomly choosing players from the pool of beta testers to participate in a newly announced alpha test.

To be a member of that beta pool, you needed to preorder Wolfenstein: The New Order. Preorders came with a key to redeem on the official Wolfenstein website. If you haven't already done so, you should register your key now, as it's the people who have done so that have a chance to be selected for the Doom alpha. Those who purchased a digital copy don't need to do anything, according to the Bethesda blog.
The alpha will take place on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
We got a look at Doom's single-player component at E3 in June, and it wasn't lacking for gore and violence. We also learned the first details about its custom map and game mode creator, and found out why the project--formerly known as Doom 4--was rebooted.
A date for next year's Doom beta hasn't been revealed, but it'll be out by spring 2016, when the full game is set for launch.
