Destiny fans don't have to wait for Rise of Iron to launch to make use of one of the expansion's newest features. Bungie announced today that private matches are now available in Destiny.

As announced previously, private matches are only supported on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Up until now, multiplayer had been limited to matchmaking into pre-set game modes. With the new private match feature, however, you're able to set up your own matches and customize the game types. You can decide the number of players you want to play, and you can even boot into a match by yourself--giving players the first opportunity to explore Crucible maps without fear of enemies.

Rise of Iron launches on September 20 for PS4 and Xbox One. It adds new Crucible maps and a multiplayer mode called Supremacy. Additionally, it introduces new quests and a raid.
