Deep Silver seeking Saints Row IV feedback for collector's edition

Publisher asking gamers what they'd like to see included in premium bundle for upcoming action game.

Saints Row IV publisher Deep Silver wants to create a collector's edition for the upcoming open-world action game, but needs to make sure it's "worth buying." To achieve this, the publisher has created a public survey that asks fans to weigh in on what they would be interested in seeing included with the premium bundle.

Some of the options included are a T-shirt that reads "Department of Homeland Saintcurity," an auto-tune device, a dubstep doomsday button, a wood cigar box, or a "ridiculously amazing glass display case with lights," among other things.

Survey participants are asked to denote their level of interest on a scale of 1 (HELL NO!) to 5 (AWWWW YEAH!). In addition, the survey asks if fans have a console preference (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, or PC), how many collector's editions they purchased in 2012, and if they play mainly alone or co-op with a friend.

Saints Row IV is due out on August 20 in North America for current-generation consoles, but not the Wii U. It is in development at series creator Volition Inc. and will be published by Deep Silver, which purchased the franchise and the developer during the THQ bankruptcy auction in January for $22.3 million.

I wish they would take the feedback on their own forums more seriously.

I second The Unapologetic Giant Statue Of Tits comment. DO IT

I really find this truly baffling, if some company release a sandbox game, it immediately gets compared to GTA? Some people claim they are trying to compete with Rockstar and some claim, it is just a complete rip off of the GTA franchise?

It is neither true, nor is it even slightly relevant!

There are too few good sandbox games in the market as it is, then as soon as some publisher announce/release a new title, out come all the GTA comparisons?

While there is no doubt, Saints Row was/is influenced by GTA, it is a game in it's own right... and should be judged as such, not compared with just because it is a sandbox title? I love this genre and wish for more releases but as I already said, there is far too few available to buy!

In the FPS genre, no one slams or critiques other FPS games for being like CoD? Then claiming they will not play it, simply because it is a poor man's version of the other?

At the very, very least...

Please give SAINTS ROW IV a chance before condemning them?

its still weird seeing deep silver before the saint's row product name. i forget sometimes that thq isnt around anymore and that many of their properties were auctioned off to the highest bidder.

Well, that's probably better then having another fiasco like the Riptide thing.

I want a real adult tiger that can ride shotgun with me in my Buick Century and somehow boost my self-esteem by swatting at my head every time I hit a pothole.

So many cynics in the comments. I'm the type of person who never sees the point in collectors editions because the knicknacks you get usually just end up collecting dust in a closet or a box somewhere in your attic, so I appreciate the effort to personalize it a bit more. I still wouldn't get the CE, but this is a classy move by Deep Silver I think.

How bout go back to SR3 and scrap it out and make a good sequel for SR2? i think that works!

How about... nothing? Or perhaps the word 'premium' on the title screen and that's it.

Maybe then people will stop wasting money on Premium editions...

I have an Idea for the collector's edition bundle for this game. since this games are so violent, how about we get a REAL gun we can use to kill people like they do in saints row for after all game violence makes people kill other.

AND SCENE!

they should just make sure the game doesn't suck and i'll be happy

What would I like to see in the Premium bundle? The whole game would be good, instead of having to buy DLC and micro transactions later on. Oh, but now I'm just being silly :P

The best thing they could possibly put in that collector's edition is a sequel to Saints Row 2.

I'm not a smoker, but a Cigar box sounds pretty cool for a conversation piece. I want itttttttt, better be classy though...as in redwood or something.

Statues and figurines are the only reason I buy collectors editions. That other stuff is just... 'meh'.

They should include skins from Dead Island (zombies and protagonists) and Cursed Mountain.

Don't think I'd be interested. But if they're gonna do one it better be dumb. All these random items "from the world" and standard promotional items is pffft.

If I have it my way the CE will include:
Voice augmentation device / auto-tune device
Dubstep Doomsday Button
Ridiculously amazing glass display case with lights?

Just package it with a 40 that I can pour on someone to get them up.

For the collector's edition I'd like to see an actual game worthy of the number 4... I know this isn't deep silver's fault. THQ was rushing this out to try and stay afloat. Either way I've no intentions of buying this. I'll wait for the real sequel in Saint's 5 on a next gen console.

Is it just me, or did this really come out of no where?  I mean, last I heard the new President of  THQ wanted to make SR4 more serious. Then THQ got F'd in the A and then boom, here is a new Saints Row!  Don't get me wrong, I am excited.  I just hope this game wasn't too rushed.

Just simply make the collectors edition worth getting at what ever price you are asking for it  like don't charge around $100 bucks for a collectors edition and everything in it is worthless or nothing but DLC crap that is also worth less.

Flamerdragon

I got it!

A toy of that cop, with a big moving/swinging head and his eyes popped out.

You know small body big moving head toys.

Or could be that pink guerrilla, doing his dance moves.

Please no special digital weapons, cars, maps and all that crap. They don't count as special editions, special stuff.

So yea, my first choice would be the cop and second the pink guerrilla.

It is Saints Row it has to be wicked.

I know people hate having mulitplayer in a game like this but I loved playing co-op with my friends on SR3 it was just funny as hell experiencing each and every single WTF moments with someone and frankly I would love it if they added 4 player co-op. The trailer btw was awesome can't wait for SR4.

Don't care really. I want to see more Saints Row on the next consoles with the same wild gameplay, much improved graphics and A NEW LOCATION. Keep it gangster  and have the same great single player too.

I wonder how many people will actually answer that survey seriously.

deadpeasant

So am I to believe that among all these extra items they came up with, the idea of more in-game  content didn't once come up? All I care about is whats in the game, not t-shirts and dubstep buttons. What a farce!

@punksterdaddy  we thought SR series was great because of its balanced ridiculousness and seriousness.. we put trust.. and we gave it a chance.. it proved to be superior.. in a while until SR the third shows up gives us good improvements but crappy storyline.. -_- we gave it a chance.. but SR:TT broke our trust.. and this game is like a DLC.. same graphics .. with massive ridiculous bullcrap like the saints' boss being elected as president and aliens attacking earth.. like WTF..

bouff

@JordanPaynter 1) GTA V isn't out yet, so we don't know if its going to be as great as we think it is (don't get me wrong I can't wait for it). 2) there not trying to compete with RockStar. they just have a game out that's the same genre (like comparing Need For Speed with F1)...

Bgrngod
Bgrngod

@hadlee73 Huh?  Saints Row The Third had some DLC, but most of it was throw away stuff that didn't change the game all that much.  What came in the box was plenty great all by itself.

bouff

@thedreaming88 they've been working on it since before SR3, so I wouldn't say its rushed at all!!!

@Falzonn Given what it asks and how it's set up, I'm not sure if there's a such thing as a serious or joking answer to it :o

@deadpeasant if you don't care about CE then what's stopping you from just getting the game only?

vadicta
vadicta

@deadpeasant I would rather that they didn't break off parts of the game for a collector's edition. And really, what's a collector's edition without collectables, anyhow?

Lambchopzin

@Brutal_Gamer97 @punksterdaddy You say we as if you speak for the entire gaming community and fanbase of Saints Row. I realize that there is a sizeable group of SR1/2 fans who feel this way, but there is a pretty massive group of people who absolutely adore the ridiculous style of SR3, and are excited to see it continue.

Also, how does your reply in any way shape or form address the OP?

punksterdaddy
punksterdaddy

@Brutal_Gamer97 @punksterdaddy In titles like this, which are all about fun, the story needs to be bonkers... How else do you explain jumping in front of cars in an effort to earn money. What would you like to see? The same rags to riches story or have them take it in a new direction?

I know what I'd prefer!

"SR:TT broke our trust," you said. How so exactly, by creating a game that was fun to play? If you feel that way, then you are completely missing the point of these series of games.

All they have said is that the DLC will now be in SRIV, not that the game is solely based on the DLC! Don't you know about the financial problems etc.?Yet some how, it feels like you believe that these people owe you something?

p.s. When were you voted to represent all the gamer's opinions? Perhaps you are meaning the Royal "WE," in which case I apologise, Your Majesty. lol (Joke)

@Bgrngod @hadlee73 Not everyone gets my warped sense of humour. I was having a dig at the trends of the industry in general, not specifically at the guys who make Saints Row. :)

@Albelnox0 @Adavanter  Not quite sure what you're on about but I game for fun too. I just played Saint's the third and would be excited about a true sequel... You sir are what's sucking the fun out of gaming by allowing games like CoD, AC and many other games that are more about release times than meaningful changes...

Albelnox0
Albelnox0

@Adavanter @Albelnox0 sorry bro but i dont' put politics in my gaming. I game to have fun like i did back in the 90s. You wanna b about something how about you b about student loans going crazy with the interest, or making the cost of college go down. I think that's way more important then falling into the "company is the enemy" trap
