Previously scheduled for release on February 9, 2016, the game is now slated for release on May 3. No reason for this was shared, but Take-Two is scheduled to have a conference call with investors this afternoon, and we may learn more about the delay then.

[Update: Take-Two had little else to say about the delay during its call, simply saying it would allow Gearbox to "full realize [its] creative vision" for the game.]

Battleborn is a first-person shooter that can be categorized in the increasingly packed hero shooter sub-genre that combines elements of shooters with that of MOBAs, like Dota 2 and League of Legends.

A closed beta for the game recently kicked off and was scheduled to be followed by an open beta sometime next year, starting with a PS4 test in "early 2016." It's unclear if this time table has been impacted by the delay.

We'll have more on the delay as we hear about it. In the meantime, you can read about why you shouldn't write it off as simply being a Borderlands MOBA.
